Tetsuya Nomura top designer of Final Fantasy has rebuked fans of the series looking forward for a PS3 remake of Final Fantasy VII, he thinks the project won’t happen and that they should hope for Cloud to appear in a future title as a guest.

Rumours of a remake of Final Fantasy VII, considered by many to be the highpoint of the series and by far the best selling, have long circulated, but all have been denied despite Square Enix going so far as to release a tech demo teaser in the video.

Bayonetta on PS3 port slow loading time has a patch after three months of release. Sega decided to patch in HDD installation after previously denying that it could fix load times, although Bayonetta on the PS3 is still stuck with comparatively bad graphics.

The patch is to be made available online for the PS3 version on the 28th.

An individual is claiming to have finally cracked the PS3’s formerly invincible copy protection system.

He claims to have cracked the hardware, he admits not yet having cracked the software, so a usable application is presumably some way off, if possible at all.

The cracker identified as “geohot” (or George Hotz) and already well known for his previous exploits, explains:

I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3. The rest is just software. And reversing. I have a lot of reversing ahead of me, as I now have dumps of LV0 and LV1. I’ve also dumped the NAND without removing it or a modchip.

Took 5 weeks, 3 in Boston, 2 here, very simple hardware cleverly applied, and some not so simple software.

As far as the exploit goes, I’m not revealing it yet. The theory isn’t really patchable, but they can make implementations much harder. Also, for obvious reasons I can’t post dumps. I’m hoping to find the decryption keys and post them, but they may be embedded in hardware. Hopefully keys are setup like the iPhone’s KBAG.

Sony’s new PS3 Motion Controller has been delayed. Sony  ensure as broad a spectrum of customers are able to enjoy the controller, they decided to delay release until autumn 2010 to ensure a broad variety of titles are available.
